Josh Alexander Vacates IMPACT Title, Steve Maclin vs Kushida Set for Rebellion 2023
Josh Alexander has relinquished IMPACT World Championship after suffering an injury. A new champion will be crowned at Rebellion 2023 PPV.
IMPACT Wrestling announced the development via its website and social media. Josh Alexander also took to Twitter to announce that he has suffered a torn tricep and will relinquish the World title immediately. He added that he would be undergoing surgery later today.
Alexander won the IMPACT World Championship at Rebellion 2022 event when he defeated Moose for the World title. His 11 months long title reign is the longest single title reign in the company’s history.
IMPACT also announced that the new title match at Rebellion 2023 PPV. Steve Maclin will compete against Kushida for the vacant IMPACT World Championship match.
Kushida was earlier supposed to challenge Alexander at IMPACTx NJPW Multiverse United 2023 event next week. A new opponent will be announced for him at Multiverse event in coming days.
Alexander was also supposed to be part of a tag team match at Sacrifice 2023 later today. He would have teamed up with Rich Swann and Frankie Kazarian to take on Time Machine’s Kushida, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin. Maclin will replace Alexander in that match also.
