WWE Hall of Fame 2019 ceremony had a moment of a scare when Bret Hart was attacked by someone in the crowd in the middle of his induction speech on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
During the induction of the Hart Foundation, Hart was tackled by an unknown assailant from the side. WWE Superstar Natalya, who was also at the stage with Hart was also caught in the mele as the security and staff tried to apprehend the attacker. The live broadcast was cut out for a short moment as a group of WWE superstars also got involved to control the situation.
As per the videos uploaded on Twitter, as the attacker tried to release himself, Dash Wilder hit him with a vicious uppercut. After the security took him off the ring, the live broadcast resumed and we could see some superstars attending to Natalya and Hart. As fans started booing the attacker, Drake Maverick took the mic and asked not to give attention to the attacker and get on with the ceremony. Bret Hart also shrugged off the incident and went on to give a strong induction speech.
WWE issued a statement on the incident and said the man has been turned over to the proper authorities. You can see their statement below:
“An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring. The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities.”
The reports are coming out that the attacker was charged with two counts of third-degree assault and one count of disorderly conduct. His identity was not released.
