Dusty Rhodes Classic Tag Team Tournament announced for 2019

The big announcement that NXT teased in the 20th Feb episode was the return of the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tag Team Tournament for this year.

The tournament was started in 2015 with 16 teams and Finn Balor and Samoa Joe won the inaugural competition to be crowned the NXT Tag Team Champions. Then in 2016, it was won by the Authors of pain. In 2018, the tournament final was a triple threat match between NXT Tag Team Championship Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly of The Undisputed Era against both tournament finalists, The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong and Pete Dunne.

The 2019 tournament will feature 8 teams. 4 teams were announced at the 20th February episode of NXT- the Street Profits, the Undisputed Era(Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly), the Forgotten Sons, and Fabian Aichner-Marcel Barthel. While the other 4 teams that will be announced on 27th February are- DIY(Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano), Oney Lorcan-Danny Burch, Ricochet-Aleister Black and the Moustache Mountain.
