AEW PPV & World Title Contenders

AEW has held a match for a future world title shot under different stipulations. At All Out 2020, it was the Casino Ladder match which was won by debutant Brian Cage. At Double or Nothing, Lance Archer won the Casino Battle Royale.

A triple threat Cracker Barrel match also took place at All Out 2019 for #1 contender which Darby Allin won. At Double or Nothing 2019, Chris Jericho defeated Kenny Omega & Adam Page won the Battle Royal to qualify for the first AEW World Championship match.

Is this Kenny Omega’s Tournament?

Kenny Omega is one of the first names to be announced for the tournament. Recently, he has started focusing back on singles run after losing the AEW Tag Team titles at Double or Nothing 2020. He has also been teasing the return on his cleaner gimmick and heel run.

AEW fans have been disappointed when Omega took a backseat since the inception of AEW in order to promote other talents in the promotion. But, now it seems he is set to be the star of the promotions going forward and possibly focus towards the AEW World title.
