The co-main event of UFC 267 will feature an interim Bantamweight championship bout as Petr Yan will square off against Cory Sandhagen on October 30.
Dana White announced the booking to ESPN, and several sources also confirm that the verbal agreements are already in place for this bout.
Initially, the match was supposed to happen between the Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan. However, Sterling is unable to compete following his neck surgery earlier this year. Sterling won the Bantamweight title back in March when Yan hit him with an illegal knee strike.
As a result, Cory Sandhagen will now face the former champion in order to become the new interim Bantamweight champion. He is coming off a close split-decision loss against TJ Dillashaw. This was Sandhagen’s only second promotional loss. His first loss came against Sterling when he was competing for the Bantamweight title.
Now, Petr Yan vs Cory Sandhagen for the Bantamweight title will co-main event UFC 267.
