UFC 268 Performance Bonus: Geathje vs Chandler Gets Fight of the Night
The explosive opening bout of UFC 268 main card between Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler has won the Fight of the Night award for the evening.
The award comes is not a surprise though after Gaethje and Chandler provided a slugfest to open the main card at Madison Square Garden. Gaethje was able to get a unanimous decision in his favour to get his 10th UFC fight night bonus in just the ninth appearance. The bout was praised by everyone with fellow MMA stars even wishing for a trilogy between the pair.
UFC handed two extra $50,000 Performance of the Night bonuses from UFC 268 event with Chris Barnett, Bobby Green, Alex Pereira, and Marlon Vera received Performance of The Night awards.
Chris Barnett sent Gian Villante into retirement with a finish with a spinning wheel kick to get the knockout. Barnett also entertained the crowd with his dancing skills both during his entrance and his exit as well did an excellent backflip for his size from the top of the cage.
Alex Pereira made his UFC debut in the final bout of preliminary card and knocked out Andreas Michailidis with a flying knee. Bobby Green was able to knockout former title contender Al Iaquinta and Vera defeated former Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar with a third-round knockout.
