UFC 267: UFC Looking to Air Non-PPV Event on ABC

UFC on ABC

UFC President Dana White is reported looking to air UFC 267 on ABC Network.

Although not officially announced by the company, UFC 267 will air from Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. It is due to the same reason that the event will broadcast live in the evening prime time slot in UAE. This will translate to a morning/afternoon time slot for the US audience.

Instead of putting low PPV numbers for UFC 267, the MMA promotion is now looking to air it as a non-PPV event in the United States. Earlier, the reports came out for the event to air for free on ESPN and ESPN Plus streaming service in a similar way all Fight Night events air.

As per a new report from Aaron Bronsteter of TSN Sports, Dana White is hoping to air UFC 267 on ABC to get more eyeballs on the product. The company debuted UFC on ABC card from Fight Island on 16 January this year with Max Holloway vs Calvin Kattar in the main event. The event aired simultaneously on ABC and ESPN+.

This will be one of those rare occasions when UFC would broadcast a traditional numbered event on television. Earlier, UFC 138 was aired on Spike TV via tape delay in November 2011.

UFC 267 has a stacked card till now. UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blancowicz will defend the title against Glover Teixeira. Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan will clash in their bantamweight title rematch. Yesterday, Islam Makhachev was announced to face Rafael dos Anjos in another lightweight fight.
