UFC 282: Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Robbie Lawler Bout Agreed

UFC 282 Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Robbie Lawler

Another bout is in work for UFC 282 PPV as Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Robbie Lawler seems to be set for the event.

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto is reporting that a bout between Ponzinibbio and Lawler has been agreed for a welterweight bout at the event on December 10, 2022, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

Lawler, a 46-fight MMA veteran will be in the octagon for the second time this year after losing to Bryan Barberena at UFC 276. Lawler previously defeated Nick Diaz at UFC 266 PPV in September last year. Lawler lost the Welterweight title to Tyron Woodley in 2016, and has been 2-5 since then.

Ponzinibbio has also lost his last two fights via split decisions. He lost to Geoff Neal at UFC 269 to close last year before losing to Michel Pereira at a Fight Night in May this year.

Lawler and Ponzinibbio were previously supposed to clash at UFC 245 in 2019. However, a staph infection forced Ponzinibbio to pull out from the bout from that event.

Lawler replaced Geoff Neal to face Neil Magny six months after that event. Ponxinibbio returned to action in January 2021 in a loss to Li Jingliang.

UFC 282 PPV is expected to be headlined by a Light Heavyweight title rematch between Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira. Keep tuned in for more news and updates from the event.
