A few days back, it was announced that the Max Holloway vs Alexander Volkanovski trilogy bout would main event UFC 272. However, now it seems like this bout won’t take place anymore.

Former UFC Featherweight Champion, Max Holloway aggravated his previous injury and now he wouldn’t be able to complete the trilogy at UFC 272 in March.

UFC broadcast partner ESPN also posted a report confirming the same. However, UFC is yet to make an official announcement regarding the withdrawal of Holloway.

It is still not known whether Alexander Volkanovski will defend his Featherweight Championship at UFC 272 against some other challenger or he will wait for Max Holloway to get medically cleared to step inside the octagon.

Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski came face to face two times and both these times Volkanovski managed to get the win. His first win was to win the Featherweight Championship from Halloway back in December 2019.

Alexander Volkanovski recently defeated Brian Ortega last year in September and updated his UFC record to 10-0. On the other hand, Holloway registered victory against Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez in 2021.
