Jorge Masvidal Out of UFC 269 Bout Against Leon Edwards

The much-anticipated match Jorge Masvidal vs Leon Edwards will not take place at UFC 269 as Masvidal is ruled out of this bout due to an undisclosed injury. 

Hunter Campbell, UFC’s Chief business officer also confirmed this news in a statement to ESPN. Edwards also responded to this news by posting a tweet. It reads, “Disappointed but honestly, I knew this fraud didn’t want to fight me anyway. He was just a stop off on the way to the title. The goal remains the same. Much needed family time now, @usman84kg I will see you soon.”

Leon Edwards is on a ten-fights winning streak and his last loss came against Kamaru Usman. Now, Edwards is hoping to face him again in 2022 for the Welterweight championship. 

Several fighters including Khamzat Chimaev, Belal Muhammad, and Gilbert Burns have shown their interest in fighting Leon Edwards at UFC 269.

Khamzat Chimaev laid down the challenge by posting a tweet and said, “Let’s go bro we do it.” On the other hand, Belal Muhammad who replaced Chimaev against Ewards earlier this year March is ready for Muhammad vs Edwards 2 as the first one ended in a no-contest after an accidental eye poke. Gilbert Burns also challenged Edwards on Twitter. 

Now, it will be interesting to see whether Edwards chooses one of these fighters for a match on December 11 or will opt out of UFC 269.
