Light Heavyweights Johnny Walker and Paul Craig might end up clashing at UFC 283 PPV in Brazil in January.

The report first came from Ag.Fight which says the pairing is in work for the first UFC PPV of the year 2023. Other media outlets have also confirmed the same news since then.

Johnny Walker recently stated in an interview with LowKick MMA that a bout against Paul Craig could be good. Walker reasoned that they are closely ranked fighters in UFC rankings and it will not be like a big step up for him to face Craig. Craig has also been seeking a fight against Walker since 2020.

“If I can get to UFC Rio in January, what could be a good fight is the guy from Scotland. Paul Craig. Because he is coming off of one loss now. He is closely ranked. It not like top five, a big step or something.”

Paul Craig was on a 6-fight unbeaten streak until July this year with 5 wins and a draw. That run saw him win four Performance of the Night awards apart from four straight stoppages against Gadzhimurad Antigulov, Maurício Rua, Jamahal Hill and Nikita Krylov. That was until he was defeated by Volkan Oezdemir at UFC London Fight Night via unanimous decision.

On the other hand, Johnny Walker is 2-4 in his last six bouts. He snapped a streak of two back-to-back losses when he defeated Ion Cuțelaba at UFC 279 PPV. Walker is currently ranked at #11 in UFC Light Heavyweight rankings while Craig is two spots above him at #9.

UFC 283 is scheduled for January 21, 2023, at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Deiveson Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno 4 bout for UFC Flyweight title unification is one of the fights said to be signed for the card. Keep tuned in for more news and updates from UFC 283.
