The UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou is all set to defend his title for the very first time and that will come against the current Interim Champion Cirly Gane.
UFC is targeting Francis Ngannou vs Cirly Gane for UFC 270 that will take place on January 22 on a yet-to-be-announced location. This fight will also serve as the Heavyweight title unification bout.
Marquel Martin, the manager of Ngannou himself confirmed this news to ESPN. Both the parties verbally agreed to this match-up, and the contract signing will take place very soon.
Martin also stated that Ngannou is ready to defend his title for the very first time and prove who is the real undisputed champion. Francis Ngannous captured the Heavyweight title at UFC 260 by knocking out Stipe Miocic. Ngannou is on a dream run as he won his last five fights via knockouts and the four of them ended in the very first round.
On the other hand, the Interim Champion, Cirly Gane is still undefeated in the UFC. Gane won the interim title in August by defeating Derrick Lewis via knockout.
Both Francis Ngannou and Cirly Gane have performed quite dominantly so far. Now, it will be interesting to see who will go home with the gold when they meet inside the octagon on January 22 at UFC 270.
