The card of the upcoming UFC 273 was shuffled a bit, and hence Dricus Du Plessis got a new opponent to face at the PPV event on April 9.
Initially, Plessis was scheduled to face Anthony Hernandez, but now he has been elevated to face a high-profile opponent in the form of Kelvin Gastelum.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto confirmed Dricus Du Plessis vs Kelvin Gastelum Middleweight bout would take place at UFC 273 on April 9.
Nassourdine Imavov who was scheduled to face Gastelum was ruled out of the event due to visa issues. As a result, UFC made some changes to the card of the event and elevated Dricus Du Plessis, and gave him a new opponent.
Kelvin Gastelum only won one out of his last six bouts. He is on a two-fight losing streak and is coming off a unanimous decision loss against Jared Cannonier.
On the other hand, Dricus Du Plessis is on a roll and won both the promotional matches via KO. He is coming off a victory against Trevin Giles.
Now, Kelvin Gastelum must be determined to get back on the winning track again by handing Du Plessis his first promotional loss.
