Cory Sandhagen: “Consider Myself Undisputed Champion If Beat Petr Yan”
According to Cory Sandhagen, Petr Yan is the best fighter in the Bantamweight division, and he will consider himself as the undisputed champion if he manages to defeat him at UFC 267.
Cory Sandhagen vs Petr Yan for the interim Bantamweight title is all set to co-main event UFC 267 on October 30 in Dubai. This was initially a rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan for the Bantamweight title, but the former was ruled out of this match due to an injury.
Sandhagen recently had a chat on “The MMA Hour” where he revealed that everyone still sees Petr Yan as the bantamweight champion and considers him the best of this division. So, in this case, it will mean a lot for him if he defeats Yan at UFC 267.
He added that he knows that he is fighting for the interim title, but he would feel like the undisputed champ if he wins this one. Sandhagen also talks about how he would like to quiet the voices of the people who talk about his loss to Sterling and Dillashaw. But these are the two rematches that he is very excited to have in the division.
Cory Sandhagen anticipated that he might get this match as Sterling wants more time to recover from his neck surgery. As a result, he started training for this fight for about eight or nine weeks now as he didn’t want to lose this opportunity.
UFC 267 will see Jan Blachowicz vs Glover Teixeira for the Light Heavyweight title in the main event. Dan Hooker vs Islam Makhachev 155 lbs bout is also a highly anticipated as it might give a future title contender in the division.
