The trilogy will be completed when Alexander Volkanovski will face Max Holloway for the third time inside the octagon at UFC 276 on July 2.
Ariel Helwani initially reported that the trilogy bout is in the works for July. Now, a report by MMA Junkie confirmed that the Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has verbally agreed to face Max Holloway in July.
Holloway was supposed to face Volkanovski in a trilogy bout at UFC 272, but he withdrew due to an injury, and then the champion ended up facing The Korean Zombie a month later at UFC 273 and defeated him in a dominant fashion.
Alexander Volkanovski is still undefeated in the UFC and is currently sitting at the #2 spot in the UFC men’s pound-to-pound rankings.
On the other hand, Max Holloway lost the UFC Featherweight championship to Volkanovski at UFC 245 and then failed to regain it at UFC 251. He then rebound from the consecutive losses and defeated Yair Rodriguez and Calvin Kattar in his most recent bouts.
UFC 276 is set to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 2, 2022. The headliner bout for this event is yet to be revealed.
