It seems like Canelo Alvarez is in no mood to stop as World Boxing Council (WBC) approved Alvarez’s request to fight for the Cruiserweight title.

The trainer of Alvarez, Eddy Reynoso announced at the WBC convention that Canelo wants to fight the Cruiserweight Champion Ilunga Makabu. The council approved Canelo’s request and now they will move this fight forward.

Canelo Alvarez is expecting to fight IIunga sometime in May next year. If he wins that bout then he will become the five-weight champion. He already won the titles in Lightweight, Light-heavyweight, Middleweight, and Super-middleweight divisions.

Canelo Alvarez defeated Caleb Plant earlier this month via Knockout to become the Undisputed Super-middleweight champion. Now, he has his eyes set on the Cruiserweight title as well.

On the other hand, Ilunga Makabu last fought Olanrewaju Durodola and defeated him via TKO in December 2020 and successfully defend his title. He also has a challenger waiting for him in the form of Thabiso Mchunu.

Now, everyone is waiting to hear the official announcement of this bout including its location and date.
