SYNOPSIS

In January 2023, Anthony Joshua’s promoter said he had a 3-fight plan for Anthony Joshua to become a World Champion once again, and the first of these fights would be against a top 15 ranked opponent in April 2023. The opponent was to be finalized after Joshua’s new trainer was onboard. A rematch against Dillian Whyte was discussed along with Australia’s Demsey McKean and America’s Jermaine Franklin.

At last, it was Jermaine Franklin who was brought on board as Joshua’s opponent. Franklin last face Dillian Whyte and gave him a tough fight, but ultimately fell short via majority decision loss. However, his performance impressed so much that Joshua has agreed to face him for his tune-up fight. The event was announced to take place on April 1, 2023, and was termed as “A New Dawn””, signifying Joshua’s attempt to begin his journey toward becoming a World Champion once again.x
