The Young Bucks vs Private Party – First Round Match, AEW World Tag Championship Tournament

The tournament to crown the very first AEW World Tag Team Champions will kick start tonight with the tag team veterans the Young Bucks taking on the up and coming Private Party. The Young Bucks are favorite to win the bracket and with that the AEW World Tag Team titles. But, does the last week’s beating change their psychology? Private has shown that they cannot be taken lightly and has the potential to upset anyone.

Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara vs Adam Page & Dustin Rhodes

Chris Jericho and Adam Page were involved in the first AEW World Championship match at All Out and both would not have forgotten about that intense battle. Chris Jericho will now team up with Sammy Guevara who aligned with him last week as Jericho’s team demolished the Elites. Adam Page will be joined by Dustin Rhodes, brother of Cody and one of the wrestlers who was subjected to the onslaught from Jericho and company. Will the champion once again prevail or will Page get his revenge?

Jon Moxley vs Shawn Spears

This will be one of those matches where it is hard to see who is the face and who is the heel. Shawn Spears is coming off a defeat against Cody Rhodes and will look to get on the winning side. But it will not easy since Moxley has proven to be a hard nut to crack. He was denied a shot at Kenny Omega due to an infection and would very much likely to hit the ground running once again. I don’t see how Spears wins this one unless Omega interferes.

Riho & Britt Baker vs Bea Priestly & Emi Sakura

After her win over Bea Priestly in last week’s dark match, Britt Baker will once again face-off with her foe. But both of their partners will be different this time. While Baker will get the AEW Women’s Champion alongside her, Priestly will also bring another Japanese partner as Emi Sakura returns for the first time since Double or Nothing. Priestly has already defeated this pair at Fight for the Fallen. Will she be able to do it once again?

Darby Allin vs Jimmy Havoc – No #1 Contender for AEW Championship

These two will continue their rivalry which started at Fight for the Fallen when they were actually tag team partners. On that day, Allin was pinned by Shawn Spears which caused Havoc and Joey Janela to snap on Allin. Allin once again was pinned by Havoc in their triple threat match at All Out 2019. And here comes my problem with this match.

AEW has time and again emphasized that wins and losses would play a major role in getting the title shots and other booking decisions. That’s why I was a bit taken aback when they announced a no #1 contender match between Allin and Havoc, who both have only 1 win each in AEW so far. PAC, who already has 2 wins is overlooked.
