WWE has shifted two championship matches, the United Championship, and the CruiserWeight Championship Match, at the Royal Rumble to the Kickoff Show.

It is going to be an action-packed weekend at Pheonix, Arizona where along with Royal Rumble PPV on Sunday, WWE is also holding a Royal Rumble Axxess event from 25th January 2019, Friday. A World’s Collide tournament will be held in the Axxess event starting from the Friday morning session, which will feature 5 superstars each from NXT, 205 Live, and NXT UK roasters.

Also NXT Takeover: Pheonix event will take place on Saturday, 26th January at the Chase Field Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona with 4 matches taking place. The full match card of NXT Takeover: Pheonix event.

The Kickoff Show will start 2 hours prior to Royal Rumble Main Event PPV at 5 PM ET on Sunday, 27th January and will feature the below matches:

  • WWE United States Championship Match – Rusev (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura.
  • WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match – Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Kalisto vs. Hideo Itami – Fatal Four Way Match

Both these championship matches are taking place mostly at Kick-Off Shows before PPV events for some time now and it’s no surprise that the same is the case this time also.
