WWE To Air PPV from Atlanta on New Year’s Day 2022
WWE will air a PPV event from Atlanta, Georgia on 1 January 2022, as per the announcement made at the Rolling Loud Festival.
WWE booked a couple of matches for this week’s SmackDown which were aired from the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami. Angelo Dawkins defeated Chad Gable in one of those matches while Bianca Belair retained the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Carmella in the other one.
The broadcast returned to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, OH after this match. What WWE fans were not able to see in TV was Bianca introducing Atlanta Hawks’ Trae Young for a special announcement. Young announced that WWE will be heading to Atlanta for a PPV event on New Year’s Day 2022.
The name of the event is not announced as of yet, but it is believed that it will be a brand new PPV. New Year’s Revolution PPV was earlier WWE’s New Year PPV, which was retired in 2006. It is likely that the event will air from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, which is the home arena for the Hawks.
WWE shared the announcement from Trae Young on their Twitter account.
WWE will host SummerSlam 2021 on 21 August, Extreme Rules on 26 September, Crown Jewel PPV in Saudi Arabia and Survivor Series in November. Tables, Ladders & Chairs PPV has been taking place in December month. But with close proximity to New Year’s Day, it will be interesting to see if the TLC event takes place this year.
