WWE Royal Rumble 2020 gave the fans an amazing moment as WWE Hall of Famer Edge returned to the WWE ring after 9 years and has signed a new deal with WWE.

The rumors of Edge’s return were going around for many months now. First, it was rumored that he will be returning near Survivor Series. However, that never happened. The rumor mill once again started in December for Edge’s return as a surprise entrant for Royal Rumble.

In the last few weeks, Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio, Fightful and other wrestling news platforms reported for Edge to make a return at Royal Rumble. However, in an interview earlier this month, Edge himself denied any such move.

Entering at number 21 in the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Edge blew the roof of the Minute Maid Stadium. As he entered and hit the spear, WWE botched the camera switching which led to fans watching on television missing his first spear upon return. But what followed might have satisfied the fans as Edge went on to last till the final three members in the Royal Rumble.

A confrontation between Edge and AJ Styles and later with The OC was also shown, which could mean that Edge and Styles might be heading towards a WrestleMania 36 match in 2020.

As per the reports, Edge has actually signed a three year deal with WWE. But he is unlikely to work on a full-time schedule. Sporadic appearances on WWE TV and major PPV matches are said to be the case going forward for Edge.

A former WWE and World Heavyweight Champion, Edge retired from in-ring wrestling in April 2011 after suffering from cervical spinal stenosis. However, The King of the Ring 2001 winner would make several appearances over the years in WWE and was also involved in the podcast with his former tag team partner and friend Christian.
