Cesaro Leaves WWE in a Shocking Exit After Contract Expires

Cesaro, Cesaro on RAW,

WWE Star Cesaro has left WWE earlier this month.

PWInsider has reported that Cesaro has quietly exited from WWE after his contract expired. This ends Cesaro’s 11 years run with the company, which started in 2011 when he signed for WWE’s developmental FCW.

It is reported that the contract talks were ongoing between the two sides but they failed to come to an agreement on an extension. Since it is the case of contract expiring, there is no 90 days non-compete and Cesaro is free to sign & appear on any other promotion right away. This also puts question marks over the reports from the same time last year when it was reported that Cesaro has signed or verbally agreed to a new multi-year deal with WWE.

After those reports, the Swiss Cyborg got a push, which included defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 37 and challenging Universal Champion Roman Reigns at WrestleMania Backlash 2021. However, things went downhill from there for him.

Cesaro competed 5 times in 2022 and lost all of those matches. At WWE Day 1, he lost a tag team match to Sheamus & Ridge Holland. His last match came on February 11 episode of SmackDown where he lost to Happy Corbin. This was a continuing theme in his WWE career and he will be considered one of the worst cases of underutilized talent on the WWE Roster.

Despite this, The Swiss Cyborg has won United States title once during his time in the company along with seven reigns as the tag team champion. Out of these 7 reigns, Sheamus was his partner for 6 reigns while he won the titles once with Tyson Kidd. Cesaro was also the inaugural winner of Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30 in 2014.

  1. It is sad to see Cesaro leave WWE. He was one of my favorite superstars. I wish him the best of luck with his future endeavors even though I won’t be able to watch him because I don’t have cable tv anymore. My cable provider been taking advantage of me and my friend who I live with, and haven’t been watching tv for almost two months. At least I can watch old WWE dvds that Cesaro was in to remember him by. He should be in the WWE hall of fame one of these days. I wish it was this year because he is an amazing athlete as well as talented. God bless you Cesaro! You will be missed in WWE. No doubt about it.
