UFC 269 Performance Bonus: Oliveira, Pena Among 8 Winners
UFC got generous with the Performance Bonuses for UFC 269 as Dana White announced 8 awardees for the night.
The UFC 269 card churned out blockbuster results which have forced UFC to hand double the amount of awards they generally give out. All 4 main card finishes got the performance of the night award including Sean O’Malley, who got the KO win over Raulian Paiva in the first round on the opening match of the main card.
Kai Kara-France defeated former Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt in the second bout of the night in the opening round. He is also getting the Performance of the Night award for his first-round knockout.
Julianna Pena shocked the MMA world by forcing Amanda Nunes to submit with a rear-naked choke in the second round of their co-main event bout. Pena will also get an extra $50,000 along with the women’s Bantamweight title. Pena ended the longest-ever women championship streak in UFC history in defeating Nunes.
Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira also gets the award for the night. He came back after a brutal beating in the first round to get a submission out of Dustin Poirier in the main event.
From the preliminary card, Bruno Silva stopped Jordan Wright with a first-round knockout in their middleweight bout to earn the fifth performance award of the event. Heavyweight Tai Tuivasa celebrated his second-round knockout over Augusto Sakai by drinking beer from a shoe. He will also earn the bonus for the night.
The Fight of the Night award went to the preliminary card bout between Dominick Cruz and Pedro Munez. Former Bantamweight Champion Cruz won the hard-fought battle via unanimous decision.
