This is the live results blog for UFC 267: Blachowicz vs Teixeira event, where we will cover play by play updates from the main card and results from the preliminary card.

Airing from Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the event will see UFC Light Heavyweight Championship on the line as the champion Jan Blachowicz will take on Glover Teixeira. The co-main event will see an interim Bantamweight title fight between Petr Yan and Cory Sandhagen. Sandhagen is a short-notice replacement for Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling, who will now be waiting on the winner of this fight.

Also on the main card is Islam Makhachev, who is dubbed as Khabib 2.0. He will take on Dan Hooker, who is filling in for Rafael Dos Anjos on one month notice. A pair of heavyweight fights in Alexander Volkov vs Marci Tybura and Magomed Ankalaev vs Volkan Oezdemir, and the return of Khamzat Chimaev and Li Jingliang will cap off the main card. UFC 267 Live Updates


Preliminary action

Tagir Ulanbekov defeated Allan Nascimento via split decision. Ulanbekov has sneaked in the decision in his favour due to his superior grappling and takedowns. Nascimento had some good moments, especially in the second round, but Ulanbekov might have done enough to get the win.

Andre Petroski defeated Hu Yaozong via submission. Petroski completely dominated the fight throughout and finally got the win with just 14 seconds left on the clock.

Lerone Murphy defeated Makwan Amirkhani via TKO/KO. Murphy has gauged that Amirkhani will go for a takedown right away and just waited for him to go down to land a big knee strike. That was it Amirkhani.

Michał Oleksiejczuk defeated Shamil Gamzatov via TKO/KO. Oleksiejczuk seemed to be on the backfoot for the first minute but then started to give it back to Gamzatov. The big uppercuts finally dropped Gamzatov in the third round.

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos defeated Benoît St. Denis via unanimous decision. The referee will get all the headlines for this match when it should have been dos Santos’ performance. The way dos Santos unloaded on Denis in the first three minutes of the second round, he should have got a TKO right there. But the referee let the fight go on. Denis’s corner will also take some blame as they did not throw in the towel. Later, the referee did not bring in the doctor when Denis got poked in the eyes. He then knocked off a point from dos Santos for an inadvertent groin strike. If it have been any other fight, this point would have changed the decision.

Albert Duraev defeated Roman Kopylov via unanimous decision. Kopylov did not look much behind in the first round despite being found backpaddling for much time. But a takedown position given to Duraev from the referee turned the tide in his favour. Duraev took full advantage of the takedown and unloaded to his heart content until the second round ended. The third round was more of a formality.

Zubaira Tukhugov defeated Ricardo Ramos via unanimous decision. Ramos was the aggressor in the early exchange but Tukhugov was able to get his counter-punching going. Ramos got the first round with his spinning back elbow strike and a flurry of follow up attacks. Tukhugov won the second round with more strikes and more control. The third round was a draw with both men landing as many strikes as they could.

Li Jingliang vs Khamzat Chimaev – Welterweight Bout

Round 1 – Chimaev goes for the takedown right from the bell and manages to get a waistlock. He picks up Li and keeps him in the air before dropping him just in front of Dana White. Jingliang does his best to stop him from getting a grip and gets to his knees.

Chimaev manages to get on his back after working for a minute on the mat. Chimaev unloaded with big punches before finally putting on the sleeper lock. But, he has to switch to his right to get the rear-naked choke on properly. The referee calls the finish.

Official decision – Khamzat Chimaev winner by submission in round 1, 3 minutes 16 seconds.

Post-match, Chimaev says he is the king here and he is gonna be here for a very long time. He then tells Dana White to not look at his phone during the fight. That was the reason why he carried Li over towards White and spoke to him. Chimaev says that he is coming for everyone in the division.

Alexander Volkov vs Marci Tybura – Heavyweight Bout

Round 1 – Volkov starts with combination punches. Tybura gets his first strike soon. Tybura with kicks at the leg before he forces Volkov into the defensive. It is hard to say who is getting the better lead here. Tybura forces Volkov to the cage we get into the third minute of the round. Tybura keeps getting odd kicks into his account. Volkov is getting his jabs now.

Tybura drops for a takedown again but Volkov blocks. Tybura falls over and Volkov is on top half-guard. Volkov fails to get much offence though and keeps grinding his elbow. Tybura tries to shrimp and allows more offence from Volkov before the round ends.

Round 2 – Volkov starts with front kicks early. Tybura starts the second round with punches. But he has failed to complete takedowns. Volkov gets his punches and knee strikes going. Tybura keeps trying to force Volkov for a takedown and pushing him to the ropes. Volkov has managed to defend takedowns till now. Tybura is taking over the bout here as Volkov seemed to have slowed down.

Round 3 – Tybura is pushing Volkov back. Volkov lands a knee. Both men are cautious as they both look tired. Volkov fires out of the corner with a big punch. The action is picking up in the second minute. Volkov lands combination punches and kicks. Tybura pushes him to the corner again but Volkov is defending well and ends up on Tybura’s back. Volkov starts to fire punches as we in the last 100 seconds of this fight. Tybura also lands a big left and more combination punches. Volkov lands more shorts in the final minute and looks like he is winning this fight.

Official Decision – Alexander Volkov wins by unanimous decision by 30-27, 30-27, 29-28.

Post-match – Volkov dedicates his victory to his newborn son and his family. He adds that he won the fight when he was able to defend takedowns successfully.

Islam Makhachev vs Dan Hooker – Lightweight Bout

Round 1 – Hooker gets jab early. Makhachev is trying to find an angle for a takedown. Makhachev manages a double-leg takedown. Hooker tries to get back to the fence but Makhachev passes to the top-half and flattens Hooker down. Hooker is trying his best to defend any lock. But Makhachev gets control of his hips and step over. Makhachev locks in the kimura lock. Makhachev steps over to side to take control. He steps over the head and wraps the kimura lock. Hooker taps out.

Official Decision – Islam Makhachev wins by submission in Round 1, 2 minutes 25 seconds.

Post-match – Makhachev says he is ready for the title fight since he has 9 fight win streak now and just defeated #6 fighter. He adds that he knows once he takes a guy down, he will win. He should get the title fight ahead of the winner between Geathje and Chandler since he is here to keep that title for a long time.

Petr Yan(c) vs Cory Sandhagen – Interim UFC Bantamweight Championship Bout

Round 1 – Sandhagen starts with some kicks to the body. Yan is taking his time before he strikes back with some. Sandhagen gets this round with more significant strikes.

Round 2 – Actions picks up as Yan is more of a agressor now. Sandhagen is keeping up with bodyshots but Yan also fires back with knee strikes.

Round 3 – Sandhagen starts the round better this time. Yan negates that progress with his punches. He blocks a leg kick and fires with a combo. Sandhagen is dropped with spinning back fist. Yan jumps on his back but is unable to get the choke. Yan ends the round with more lefts.

Round 4 – Yan starts with heavy punches before Sandhagen comes back with bodyshots. Yan gets an extended period of attack before Sandhagen gets on his back. Yan defends this well and goes back to his strikes.

Round 5 – Sandhagen misses a jump knee in the first minute. Both men are looking well conditioned in the final round as well. Lots of action as the fight is nearing its end. Yan hits a spinning kick and Sandhagen hits a jump knee.

Official Decision – Petr Yan wins via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) to become the interim UFC Bantamweight Champion.

Post-match – Yan says he knew Sandhagen will be a tough fight. He says he is the real champion and will fight anyone, either Aljamain Sterling or TJ Dillashaw.

Sandhagen says he did not deserve to win that match and the title.

Jan Blachowicz(c) vs Glover Teixeira – UFC Light Heavyweight Championship Bout

Round 1 – Blachowicz lands a low kick to leg. Glover pushes him to the fence and takes him down with double-leg takedown. He then turns Blachowicz to the center. Blachowicz locks his guard and both men stay in that position for sometime. Glover pushes his weight on Blachowicz now and starts to land some elbows. Glover goes for can opener several. Complete domination from Glover after the takedown.

Round 2 – Blachowicz comes out firing. Glover charges forward and Blachowicz is clearly worried about avoiding double leg takedown. He fights off a takedown. Blachowicz is now working some good combos but he is still getting backed up to the fence. Glover drops for a double but Blachowicz under before separating. They trade punches before Glover gets on Blachowicz’s back. Glover slips the arm under Blachowicz and gets the submission right away.

Official Decision – Glover Teixeira wins by submission in Round 2, 3 minutes 2 seconds, to become the UFC World Light Heavyweight Champion.

Post-match – Teixeira talks about breaking the rules by winning the title at 42 years old. He says Blachowicz has earner his respect for life. He also says that Jiri Prochazka is next. He wants wraps everyone to follow their dreams and never quit.

Jan Blachowicz says he thinks he left the Legendary Polish Power in his hotel room. He promises that he will be back.
