Sterling vs Yan II & Volkanovski vs Sung Jung Set to Main Event UFC 273

Alexander Volkanovski vs Chan Sung Jung Featherweight Championship bout and Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan II Bantamweight title unification bout are set to main event UFC 273. 

MMA Fighting confirmed this news with several people with knowledge of the bookings. These two bouts will headline the April 9 UFC PPV event whose location is yet to be determined. 

The Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung replaced Max Holloway who was ruled out of the scheduled trilogy match due to an injury. 

Alexander Volkanovski is on a 20-fights winning streak and has successfully defended his Featherweight title against Max Holloway and Brian Ortega. 

On the other hand, the Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan rematch was originally scheduled for UFC 272. However, the bout was postponed, and now it will headline UFC 273 in April. It is still unknown why this bout was shifted.

Now, it is confirmed that this Bantamweight Title Unification bout will finally take place on April 9 on a yet-to-be-announced location. 

Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling already met once at UFC 259. However, their first bout ended in a disqualification after Yan hit an illegal knee strike to Sterling.
