Sean Strickland vs Luke Rockhold Projected for UFC 268 PPV

Luke Rockhold  vs  Sean Strickland UFC 268

A third fight is added to UFC 268 PPV as Luke Rockhold will end his hiatus against Sean Strickland.

As per TSN Sports‘ Aaron Bronsteter, Rockhold(16-5) and Sean Strickland have agreed to the fight verbally. UFC is targetting the bout for UFC 268 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. ESPN also confirmed the same news.

Strickland is currently on a five-fight winning streak dating back to October 2018 where he defeated Nordine Taleb with TKO. The former King of the Cage Middleweight Champion was involved in a motorcycle accident after that win, which resulted in almost two years of hiatus for him.

But Strickland is making up for the lost time as this will be his fifth fight in the last 12 months. His most recent win came against Uriah Hall at UFC Vegas 33. Strickland dominated the main event fight to get a unanimous decision in his favour. A win here would bring him in the contention for a title fight against Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya.

On the other hand, Luke Rockhold is not having a good run recently. Since he lost the title to Michael Bisping at UFC 199 in June 2016, Rockhold has been 1-2 in his UFC outings. This will be Rockhold’s return to the octagon after a year-long hiatus. His most recent outing was against Jan Blancowicz at UFC 239 in June 2019.

UFC 268 will be headlined by the Welterweight title match between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. Michael Chandler vs Justin Gaethje fight was also added to the fight card last week.

UFC was looking to host the event at Madison Square Garden. But the rise in cases for COVID-19 and mandates returning have UFC worried about the possibility of the event in New York.
