Khabib Nurmagomedov Thinks Makhachev Deserves Title Shot Before Gaethje
Former UFC Lightweight Champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov thinks that Islam Makhachev deserves a title shoe before Justin Gaethje.
Makhachev was used to be a training partner of Nurmagomedov and now he is his underling. Currently, he is racing with Justin Gaethje in order to get a shot at the UFC Lightweight championship.
The official Instagram account of ESPN MMA shared a post and in the caption, they wrote, “Justin Gaethje believes a title shot is in order after his UFC 268 performance.
Khabib Nurmagomedov posted a comment on the same post and stated, “In last 8 fight, you got finished 3 times Justin,” Nurmagomedov wrote. “You had an opportunity to become champion, but you fell asleep Islam is on the 9 win streak, 3 fights in 2021 and all finishes. Just shut up and admit that Islam deserves this title shot, not you.”
Islam Makhachev performed impressively at UFC 267 and got the first-round submission win against Dan Hooker. Whereas Justin Gaethje won the hard-fought match against the former Bellator Champion Michael Chandler at UFC 268.
Makhachev hasn’t lost a single match since 2015. On the other hand, Gaethje remains victorious in five out of his last six matches and the only loss came against none other than Khabib Nurmagomedov. ins
