Amanda Nunes vs Julianna Pena Match Moved to UFC 269 PPV
Amanda Nunes(21-4) vs Julianna Pena(10-4) UFC Bantamweight Championship match is moved to UFC 269 PPV now.
Nunes was supposed to defend the 145 lbs title at UFC 265 earlier this month. However, she suffered from COVID-19 and the bout had to be canceled. UFC has now confirmed that the match is moved to the 11 December 2021 PPV card.
Amanda Nunes currently holds both Bantamweight and Featherweight titles and is undefeated in her last 12 bouts in UFC. She defended the Featherweight title in her last two bouts against Felicia Spenser(UFC 250) and Megan Anderson(UFC 259).
She last defended the Bantamweight title back in December 2019 at UFC 245 against Germaine de Randimine. “The Lioness” holds the record for most wins, longest title reigns, most title defenses, and more other UFC records in women’s division, and also ranks at the top of several MMA bantamweight rankings currently.
Julianna Pena is coming off a win against Sara McMann at UFC 257 in January this year. It was that win that earned Pena the title shot.
Pena earlier raised questions whether Nunes wantedly got their bout postponed and alleged that Nunes recovered from COVID in time and could have made it to UFC 265. Nunes did not respond to those comments at the time.
This is the first match to be announced for UFC 269. Kai Kara France vs Cody Garbrandt is also expected to take place at the event. The location for the event is also not confirmed at this point. Keep tuned in for more updates on UFC 269 and future UFC events.
