Merab Dvalishvli vs Jose Aldo is in Works for UFC 278

According to the latest reports, UFC is targeting Jose Aldo vs Merab Dvalishvli Bantamweight bout for UFC 278 PPV event. 

Ariel Helwani reported this news first which was later confirmed by several other sources as well. Sherdog even contacted Andre Pedernias, the coach of Nova Uniao. 

Pedernias confirmed that the bout is in the works for the August 20 PPV event. He stated that the fight would take place once both parties agreed to it. 

Pedernias wants Jose Aldo to face Aljamain Sterling or Dominick Cruz. However, the promotion had already decided the next opponents for them. Therefore, now they are moving forward with their third option which is Merab Dvalishvli. 

Jose Aldo is in the red hot form as he won his last three bouts. He is coming off a victory against Rob Font, and before him, Aldo defeated Pedro Munhoz and Marlon Vera. 

On the other hand, Merab Dvalishvli hasn’t lost a single match since 2018. He is on an impressive seven-fight winning streak and is coming off a TKO victory against Marlon Moraes which earned him a Performance of the Night bonus as well.
