UFC Fight Night is set to feature Islam Makhachev vs Beneil Dariush lightweight bout as its main event on February 26.
The official Twitter account of ESPN MMA announced this news whereas Islam Makhachev himself confirmed this matchup by tweeting “No doubts after this one.”
Dariush is ranked at #3 in the UFC Lightweight division whereas Makachev is ranked at the #4 position. Interestingly, both these fighters are on an impressive fight-winning streak.
Islam Makhachev has won nine fights in a row. He is coming off an impressive submission victory against Dan Hooker at UFC 267. Makhachev has lost only one bout in his UFC career and that too came six years back against Adriano Martins.
On the other hand, Beneil Dariush is on a seven-fight winning streak. He is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Tony Ferguson at UFC 262. Beneil’s last loss came back in March 2018 when he was knocked out by Alexander Hernandez.
Now, the winning streak of one of these lightweight fighters will snap in the main event of UFC Fight Night on February 26.
