Dana White Assured Leon Edwards’ Title Shot Against Kamaru Usman

Leon Edwards

UFC President Dana White had a chat with TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter where he assured that Leon Edwards will be the next one to challenge Kamaru Usman for the Welterweight title.

Leon Edwards has been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, and now it seems like his wait is finally over. Dana White stated that Edwards is 100% next in line for Kamaru Usman.

According to White, Leon has a rough run and he totally deserves this shot. He also mentioned that Colby Covington already lost to Usman twice, Gilbert also failed to beat Usman, so now Leon is next because he is no. 3.

Dana White hasn’t revealed when or where this bout will happen. However, it is likely that the promotion will announce it very soon.

Leon Edwards is on a nine-fight winning streak and is undefeated for the last six years. His last defeat came at the hands of none other than Kamaru Usman back in 2015.

Edwards last defeated Nate Diaz in June 2021 via unanimous decision. He was supposed to face Jorge Masvidal at UFC 269, but the latter withdrew from the match due to injury.

On the other hand, Kamaru Usman successfully defended his title for the fifth time as he defeated Colby Covington at UFC 268.
