Tyson Fury will next clash with Dillian Whyte at a packed Wembley Stadium in London on April 23, 2022, to defend his WBC, Lineal, and The Ring World Heavyweight Championships.

The Gypsy King has won the WBC title from Deontay Wilder back in 2020 after successfully defending against him later in October 2021. Dillian Whyte has been a WBC mandatory challenger for quite a long time and has waited patiently for his title shot.

However, this fight was almost on the verge of cancellation. The reason was Whyte’s demand for a $10 million purse to face Whyte. After months of negotiations, WBC ordered a fight purse when both parties could not come to an agreement. What happened in that purse bid? Whyte’s Promoter Matchroom Boxing and Fury’s Promoter Queensberry Promotions(with Top Rank) participated in the fight purse bid on January 28, 2022. The bidding process was also postponed at least six times as Whyte was asking for 45% split from the purse bid. WBC ordered an 80/20 split in favor of Fury by taking the past salaries in consideration.

During the bidding process, Matchroom Boxing bid $32,222,222, while Frank Warren’s Top Rank and Bob Arum’s Queensberry Promotion won the bid with $41,025,000 bid. This bid is the highest fight purse bid in history and the total bid of $73 million is also the highest total of all bid submitted for any boxing bout ever.

The breakout for this $41 million will be as below:

  • Overall Bid- $41 million/£32 million
  • WBC Share- $4.1 million/£3.2 million (to be awarded to the winner)
  • Tyson Fury’s Share – $29.5 million/£23 million (80% split after WBC share)
  • Dillian Whyte’s Share – $7.4 million/£5.8 million (20% split after WBC share)

How much will Tyson Fury Earn from fight against Dillian Whyte?

As he was given the 80% split from the fight purse, Tyson Fury will be getting $29.5 million as the fixed salary from this fight. If Fury wins the fight, he will get an additional $4.1 million from WBC. WBC retains 10% of the fight purse to be awarded to the winner.

So, Tyson Fury may end up earning a total of up to $33.6 million(£26.2 million) from his fight against Dillian Whyte. Another point to be noted is that Fury will not get any PPV bonus for this bout and $29.5 or $33.6 is going to be his final salary from this event. This will be a career-high payday for Tyson Fury.

How much will Dillian Whyte Earn from the fight against Tyson Fury?

With his 20% split, Dillian Whyte will get $7.4 million to fight Tyson Fury. If he wins, Whyte will get an additional $4.1 million from WBC share. Dillan Whyte will end up earning up to a total of $11.5 million from this event. Again, Whyte will not get any additional PPV share. Once again, it will be the highest that Whyte will earn from any fight in his career so far.
