NXT Superstar Johnny Gargano is now ruled out of Survivor Series 2019 weekend due to his ongoing injury issues. This would mean that he will either be part of NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019 or Survivor Series 2019.

There were some speculations that Johnny Gargano will face-off against Finn Balor at NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019. Gargano was subjected to an attack from Finn Balor at the NXT episode of 23 October 2019. Gargano was stretchered out of the arena after Balor hit him with a Pele kick, a dropkick and then a DDT on the steel ramp. WWE is playing it that Gargano suffered a neck injury due to that attack.

Another speculation was that Gargano might join Team Ciampa in the Men’s WarGames match this year. Tomasso Ciampa’s team currently only has three members with Matt Riddle and Keith Lee. With the announcement of Gargano being ruled out from Survivor Series, it is now clear that he will also not be the part of NXT’s men team against RAW and SmackDown in 5-on-5 elimination tag team matches.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2019 takes place in Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Chicago on 23 November 2019. Only two matches are announced for the show yet:

  • Men’s WarGames Match– The Undisputed ERA(Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’ Reily) vs Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle & Keith Lee
  • Women’s WarGames Match- Shayna Baszler, Bianca Beliar, Io Shirai vs Rhea Ripley, Candice LeRae, Tegan Nox & Mia Yim
