Baron Corbin could not announce the special guest referee for WWE Stomping Grounds as Seth Rollins keeps attacking the possible candidates at RAW this week.
Baron Corbin, who will be challenging Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at Stomping Grounds, was given the ability to choose the referee for their match after complaining about alleged unfair treatment in their last encounter at WWE Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia. The big reveal of the special guest referee was one of the majorly advertised segment. As it turns out, that didn’t happen due to several brutal attacks from Seth Rollins.
It was Elias who first revealed himself to be the referee for the bout to open the show, but he was quickly dismantled by numerous steel chair shots from Rollins. Later in the show, Corbin announced EC3 to be the referee but EC3 also suffered the same fate.
Corbin then tried to convince Eric Young, formerly of Sanity, to be a referee for his upcoming title match. Young replied that he will think about it. As Rollins approached him, Young told him he does not plan to be the referee but Rollins attacked him regardless.
Rollins also battled Daniel Bryan during the main event of RAW and defeated him after a good match. Post-match, Corbin was able to get some revenge over Rollins as he attacked him from behind and stood tall to close the show.
WWE Stomping Grounds takes place this Sunday, June 23rd at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington. For more information, news and updates from the show, you can follow this space.
