NXT has revealed 3 big matches for New Year’s Evil 2022 special including North American and Cruiserweight title unification match.

Ciampa vs Breakker Rematch at New Year’s Evil

NXT Champion Tomasso Ciampa has agreed to give a rematch to Bron Breakker. Ciampa defeated Breakker at NXT Halloween Havoc episode when they last faced off in a title match. Later, Breakker pinned Ciampa in the Wargames match after a massive spear and a power slam.

After his win at Wargames, Breakker asked for a rematch. Ciampa replied by attacking him after he defeated Roderick Strong at NXT last week. Ciampa opened the show this week and called him out to the ring and granted him the rematch at New Year’s Evil. Breakker responded to harsh words by slamming him to the mat.

Triple Threat for Women’s Championship

Raquel Gonzalez defeated Dakota Kai in a street fight to close their rivalry this week. Post this win, Gonzalez called out NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose and asked for a rematch for the title. Instead, Gonzalez was interrupted by Cora Jade, who also wanted a shot at the champion.

Mandy Rose then appeared at the big screen from a swimming pool and agreed to a triple threat title match featuring both Jade and Gonzalez. Rose’s teammates Jacy Jayne and Gigi Dolin then attacked Jade and Gonzalez to end that segment.

North American & Cruiserweight Title Unification

The rivalry between NXT North American Carmelo Hayes and Cruiserweight Champion Roderick Strong has been brimming for some time now. This week at NXT, Strong attacked Hayes during Trick Williams vs Dexter Lumis match. Malcolm Bivens later challenged Hayes for a title unification match, which Hayes agreed to.

WWE has been planning to let go of the Cruiserweight title for a while now. They have also removed the weight limit from 205 Live recently in line with the same vision. It remains to be seen though if a new title will be introduced instead of these two secondary titles.
