Intercontinental Championship Match Added to WWE Day 1
On the Christmas Eve edition of WWE SmackDown, Sami Zayn won the 12-man Gauntlet match to become the new #1 contender for Shinsuke Nakamura’s Intercontinental Championship.
Now, Sami Zayn will face the King of Strong Style in a championship bout at WWE’s upcoming PPV event, Day 1.
The 12-man Christmas Gauntlet match featured Angel, Humberto, Sheamus, Cesaro, Jinder Mahal, Shanky, Ivar, Erik, Drew Gulak, Ricochet, Mansoor, and Sami Zayn. Zayn last eliminated Ricochet to win the match.
On the December 17 episode of SmackDown, Zami Zayn also went to Adam Pearce and asked him for an opportunity to face Shinsuke Nakamura.
Sami Zayn finally got what he wanted, and now he will square off against Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE Day 1 on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
The event will be headlined by WWE Universal Championship between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
