According to the latest reports, a featherweight bout between Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez might headline the November 13 UFC event which is expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Multiple people with the knowledge confirmed this news to MMA Fighting. According to them, verbal agreements are already in place for this bout. Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez might also determine the new no. 1 contender for the UFC Featherweight title.
The winner of this fight will face the winner of the UFC 266 main event between Alexander Volvanovski and Brian Ortega, probably sometime in first quarter of 2022.
Holloway was originally scheduled to face Rodriguez but the former had to withdraw due to an injury. Max Holloway lost the UFC featherweight title to Volvanovski at UFC 245. He faced Volkanovski at UFC 251 in his attempt to regain the title. However, he lost the match by a close split decision.
On the other hand, Yair Rodriguez will enter the octagon for the first time in over two years. In his last match, he defeated Jeremy Stephens in the co-main event of UFC Boston back in October 2019.
Update: UFC officially announced Holloway vs Rodriguez for November 13 Fight Night.
