Two Time PFL Lightweight Championship Tournament Winner Kayla Harrison has re-signed with the promotion.

Harrison was a free agent after the end of PFL 2021 season. MMA Reported Ariel Helwani reported that PFL has matched an offer from Bellator MMA to secure Harrison for next few seasons. PFL also confirmed the same later.

Harrison first signed with PFL back in 2016 and had rights to match any offer presented to her by other parties. The promotion has exercised the same rights to keep Harrison with them for the near future. The same is confirmed by Harrison also in his appearance on ESPN SportsCenter on Tuesday.

“I think there were a lot of contract negotiations, there were a lot of offers, many of them very lucrative. Ultimately, the PFL had the right to match any contract that I received and they stepped up in a big way and now I’m going to be staying with the PFL. I’m excited.”

A two-time Olympics Gold Medalist in Judo, Harrison also said that PFL owners have assured him that they’re not afraid to pay big money and bring over big-name fighters to come over and challenge her.

After debuting in PFL 2018 season, Harrison has amassed 11 wins in the promotion with most of the wins coming without breaking much sweat. She defeated Larissa Pacheco and Taylor Guardado in the finals of the Lightweight tournament in 2019 and 2021 respectively.

Signing with PFL again would mean that Harrison might miss clashing with top women fighters in Chris Cyborg(Bellator) and Amanda Nunes(UFC), but she added in her interview, “I can only fight who’s in front of me. I can only get in the cage and try to be the best possible version of myself.”
