Fight Preview
Manny Pacquiao was returning to fight Errol Spence Jr for the unified WBC and IBF Welterweight Championship in Las Vegas on 21 August 2021. However, Spence was diagnosed with torn retina in his left eye during his pre-fight medical investigation, and hence, pulled out of the fight.
Yordenis Ugas was booked on the undercard for the same event to defend his WBA Super Welterweight Championship against Fabian Maidana. However, Maidana also suffered an injury and had to withdraw from the bout.
Pacquaio then agreed to face Ugas on the same date and location.
