WWE has announced a triple threat match for WWE Championship at WWE Day 1(2022) PPV with Big E, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens set to collide to kick off New Year.

Earlier, Seth Rollins became the #1 contender for WWE Championship by winning a ladder match on October 25 episode of WWE RAW. WWE Champion Big E and Rollins have been each other’s throats ever since. Rollins announced on this Monday’s WWE RAW that WWE has officially confirmed the title match between him and Big E for Day 1 event.

Rollins claimed that Day 1 will kick off a new era for RAW and will be the first day of his new championship reign. He later defeated Finn Balor in a singles match.

Kevin Owens was facing Big E in a non-title match on RAW this week. After Rollins went backstage, Owens told him that, as per WWE Official Adam Pearce, if he beats Big E tonight, he will get added to the title match at Day 1. Rollins went to Pearce for confirmation and Pearce denied that is the case. However, Sonya Deville later suggested that it is a good idea.

After more back and forth between Rollins and Owens, Adam Pearce went on to confirm that Owens will be added to the title match if he wins. Big E vs Kevin Owens was the main event match of the evening. Rollins came out to the commentary to watch and ensure that the match remains a singles bout.

Owens got many near falls on Big E and with each near-fall, Rollins keeps getting frustrated. As Rollins went on to cheer Big E, Owens attacked him. As Owens was looking to end the match, Rollins then attacked him to cause a DQ and give the win to Owens. The announcer then confirmed that Owens has won this match via disqualification and will be added to the WWE Championship match between Seth Rollins and Big E at WWE Day 1 2022 PPV.

Big E won the WWE Championship from Bobby Lashley early in October after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. He has since defended the title successfully against Lashley and then against Drew McIntyre at Crown Jewel PPV. Keep tuned in for more news and updates from WWE.
