Finn Balor appeared on FS1’s WWE Backstage and made it known to everyone that “the Prince is back” while talking about his attack on Johnny Gargano.
Finn Balor returned to NXT on the 2 October 2019 edition of the show. After not being used for the next few weeks, Balor was announced to appear on this week’s NXT episode. In the hype teaser, Balor was saying, “My Past will be my Future”.
Balor came out to the ring after the main event match on NXT. And it was looking like he would take on the Undisputed ERA with Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano. But, to everyone’s shock, he nailed Gargano with a Pele kick and then a dropkick and a DDT on the steel ramp. The turn caught the fans with a huge surprise and Balor has been a hot topic ever since.
Balor appeared on WWE Backstage’s special episode after last night’s SmackDown episode on FS1. He began the interview by saying how Raw and SmackDown are like Hollywood, claiming it’s easy to hide behind the lights and smoke. But he equated NXT with Broadway where you cannot hide anywhere. He has returned to NXT to test himself.
As the hosts, Renee Young and Booker T pointed out that Balor has been the longest reigning NXT champion with 292 days title reign, Balor told them that it felt good returning to NXT, but it felt even better seeing Johnny Gargano on the ground after his recent attack on the latest episode of NXT.
“I haven’t been true to myself for a long time,” Balor continued. Booker T then went on to ask him about his character shift and he said that this is the real Balor. He followed that up by asking Booker T if he was familiar with his work before WWE. Balor said that he would say “the prince is back.”
Finn Balor used the ring name Prince Devitt in New Japan Pro Wrestling and worked as the heel for the most part there. He was also once the leader of the heel stable, the Bullet Club.
