Tommaso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano set for NXT Takeover: New York

It appears that Tommaso Ciampa will face Johnny Gargano to defend his NXT World Championship title at NXT Takeover: New York on 5th April this year.

Although they worked as the tag team on their RAW and SmackDown Debuts, Ciampa and Gargano officially reunited at the NXT tapings for the episode for 27 February after Gargano lost his NXT North American Championship to Velveteen Dream. The duo then took part in the Dusty Rhodes Classic Tournament and won the opening round match against the Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly. However, after their loss against the team of Ricochet and Aleister Black, the duo came to blows with each other and the brawl ended with Gargano sending Ciampa through the LED screen.

The story is clearly heading towards their showdown for the title match at next NXT Takeover event at Wrestle Mania weekend in New York.
