Charles Oliviera Waiting for Conor McGregor for UFC 274 in Brazil

Charles Oliviera vs Conor McGregor

While Justin Gaethje is the new #1 contender for UFC lightweight title, the champion Charles Oliviera is targetting a fight against Conor McGregor next in his home country Brazil.

UFC’s 155 lbs titleholder Oliviera is chosen as Sherdog’s Fighter of the Year 2021. During the year, he won the title against Michael Chandler at UFC 262 and then defended it successfully against Dustin Poirier at UFC 269.

Talking on this occasion, the Brazilian revealed that he is targetting a possible showdown with Conor McGregor at UFC 274 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Oliviera and McGregor went back and forth on Twitter after Do Bronx defeated Poirier earlier this month, and the Irishman expressed his desire for Brazil vs Ireland 2.

The Notorious earlier defeated Brazilian Veteran Jose Aldo back at UFC 194 in 2015 to win the Featherweight title.

During the interview with Sherdog, Oliviera brought up McGregor’s tweet and said that fans want to see this fight. “Do Bronx” is waiting for McGregor to recover and is ready for a fight in May. Oliviera is also providing McGregor to choose between welterweight, middleweight, or lightweight division, and the fight does not necessarily need to be his title defense.

Oliviera also expressed that he will be ready to fight Justin Gaethje also if he is asked to do so by UFC. Gaethje has already expressed that he will “riot” if he is not next in line for the title shot and is bypassed in favor of McGregor.

Although not announced officially by the promotion, UFC 274 is currently targeted for May 7, 2022, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Keep tuned in for more news and updates from UFC.
