NXT Takeover Stand & Deliver 2021

NXT has teased some big matches which could take place at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver 2021 event. The show was announced on Wednesday night and will take place over two nights during WrestleMania week.

First up to be teased was a long-awaited showdown between NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai & Raquel Gonzalez.

Gonzalez & Dakota Kai recently won the first-ever Women’s Dusty Rhodes Classics tournament at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day 2021. They were crowned as the first-ever NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions on this week’s NXT. They were soon challenged by Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart, who were able to defeat Gonzalez & Kai to win the titles.

Gonzalez & Kai cut a promo backstage where they were seen ranting over their title loss. Gonzalez stressed that regardless of losing them, they still made history by becoming the first Women’s Tag Team Champions. Io Shirai then appeared in the segment which ended in her face-off with Gonzalez.

Finn Balor defended the NXT Championship against Adam Cole. Near the end of the match, Kyle O’ Rielly appeared at the ringside. With Cole distracted by O’ Rielly, Balor was able to hit his 1916 DDT & Coupe de’ Grace to get the win.

Earlier, Adam Cole turned on O’ Rielly and Balor at NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day. O’ Rielly attacked Cole after tonight’s match and they brawled to backstage. Adam Cole vs Kyle O’ Rielly is also expected for NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.

Finn Balor was watching their brawl for the ring when he noticed that someone is standing behind him in the ring. Balor turned around and asked Karrion Kross, “What took you so long?”

Karrion Kross has to relinquish the NXT Championship just 4 days after winning it at NXT TakeOver 30 as he suffered a separated shoulder injury. Kross vs Balor is also expected to take place at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver.

Jordan Devlin, the NXT Cruiserweight Champion, appeared in a recorded promo and revealed that his travel is now up and he will be at NXT next week. He called out the interim Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar. A title unification match between Devlin & Escobar is also on the cards for the next TakeOver event.

Stay tuned for more updates on NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver 2021. For now, Triple H’s tease for big matches.
