Drew McIntyre Tested Positive for COVID-19

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre has been tested positive for COVID-19, WWE has announced.

“Drew McIntyre has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been placed in quarantine,” the WWE website announcement said. The announcement came on the day when McIntyre was set to face Randy Orton on WWE RAW.

It was also expected that Drew McIntyre would address the challenge that was issued to him by Goldberg at last week’s RAW Legends Night. The positive test for COVID-19 has put McIntyre in doubt for Royal Rumble now.

This is first time that WWE has officially confirmed a COVID-19 case in the company. Till now, the wrestlers themselves, like AJ Styles and others, have announced the positive tests for Coronavirus.

The general guidelines for CDC recommend a 10 days period of quarantine for anyone who tests positive for the Coronavirus. However, if McIntyre’s next test also comes positive, he may have to miss out Royal Rumble. The 2021 edition of PPV will take place on 31 January 2021.

On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed three more positive cases from WWE that have contracted the virus or have just recovered. Meltzer also said that there was one case on SmackDown where that talent has now been taken off, another big star has now returned after testing positive and one case is from NXT.
