Reason Why IMPACT Rebellion Moved to 25 April 2021!

Kenny Omega IMPACT Rebellion 2021

Impact Wrestling announced earlier this week that their next PPV – Rebellion 2021 – will now air on 25 April 2021. The earlier date for the show was one before on 24 April 2021.

Impact Co-Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore mentioned that Sunday night is the traditional night for major pro wrestling events. Rebellion will have Impact World Champion Rich Swann facing AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in the title vs. title match in the main event.

Recently, AEW also shifted their PPVs to Sunday. AEW Revolution took place on 7 March 2021 which got a boost in PPV buys. But here, the case is totally different.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the reason Rebellion was moved to 25 April to avoid a clash with UFC 261 which is also on 24 April.

UFC 261 will see the crowd returning to a UFC PPV for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Toyota Center in Houston, TX is sold out with 15,000 fans expected to attend the show. The PPV will feature Kumaru Usman defending the UFC Welterweight title against Jorge Masvidal.
