Welcome to ITN’s Live Results & Updates Blog for Night 1 of WWE WrestleMania 36 on 4 April 2020(4/4/2020).

WrestleMania is a two-night extravaganza this time around, which might mean we will get two 5-hour shows. But this WrestleMania is also different for two more reasons. First is that all the matches are pre-tapped last week itself.

WWE WrestleMania 36 Quick Results

  2. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross defeated Kabuki Warriors to become new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions
  3. Elias defeated King Baron Corbin
  4. Becky Lynch defeated Shayna Baszler to retain WWE RAW Women’s Championship
  5. Sami Zayn defeated Daniel Bryan to retain WWE Intercontinental Championship
  6. John Morrison defeated Kofi Kingston and Jimmy Uso in a Ladder match to retain WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship
  7. Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins in a No Disqualification Match
  8. Braun Strowman defeated Goldberg to become the new WWE Universal Champion
  9. The Undertaker defeated AJ Styles in Boneyard Match

WWE WrestleMania 36 Kick-Off Show

Night One of WWE WrestleMania pre-show is live from WWE Studios with Corey Graves and Peter Rosenberg. They tell us about the line-up for tonight and tomorrow. Tonight’s matches are listed above while rest of the matches could be found in the match card. Next, they hype Women’s Tag Team title, Universal Championship and Triple Threat Ladder match for SmackDown Tag Titles.

Cesaro defeated Drew Gulak in a short match in the pre-show. Back and forth, fast-paced match. Gulak kept his offense focused on Cesaro’s right arm. Cesaro put Gulak in an airplane spin before dropping him in the ring to get the win.

Graves and Rosenberg go through the line-up for both nights again. After this, King Baron Corbin is with Kayla Braxton for some trash talk. We go into a hype promo for Becky Lynch vs Shayna Baszler match. Renee Young, Booker T, and Mark Henry join the telecast from their respective homes via video conference to discuss the match.

WWE WrestleMania 36 Main Show Results & Updates

The main show opens up with Stephanie McMahon addressing us. She says WrestleMania will be different due to the current scenario and just hope to give fans a diversion during the hard times and entertain us. On behalf of WWE, she thanks us and welcomes us to WrestleMania 36.

We get a video mashup with various singers performing “America The Beautiful” over the years. Next is a pirate-themed opening video package for WrestleMania 36 with some comedy and special footage with different WWE superstars. The host of the night Rob Gronkowski is up next. He says WWE picked him to host because he knows how to start a party and end it two days later. He asks everyone to pop open a beverage, forget everything else going around and enjoy WrestleMania. He also brings Mojo Rawley over to get hyped up for the show.

Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross defeated Kabuki Warriors(Asuka & Kairi Sane) to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Alexa and Asuka started the match but the defending champ tried to frustrate Bliss by tagging out right away. The challengers took the upper hand but Asuka & Sane took control. After several offense bursts in between, Cross and Bliss hit their finishers on Sane to win the match and the title for the second time.

Baron Corbin asked the referee to get a win by forfeit against Elias, claiming that Elias is injured after he threw him from the deck last week. Though Elias enters before the referee could make any decision. Corbin charges at him but Elias hits him with the guitar. Elias goes on to beat him at the ringside before the bell could ring.

Elias defeated Baron Corbin in a singles match. Corbin took control after the bell. Elias made a rally late in the match. After some back and forth, Elias caught Corbin when he was arguing with the referee and rolled up for the pin.

Becky Lynch defeated Shayna Baszler to retain her WWE RAW Women’s Championship. Becky entered into Performace Center in his custom 18 wheeler truck. The match started quick and both women worked more with strikes than the technical style they are known for. Baszler controlled more of the match and got on the verge of the win many a times. Becky turned Kirifuda Clutch into a pin and the win to shock Baszler.

Sami Zayn defeated Daniel Bryan to retain WWE Intercontinental Championship. Zayn kept avoiding Bryan by rolling out of the ring. Cesaro and Nakamura were booted from the ring by the referee after they tried to stop Bryan from chasing Zayn. Bryan finally catches Zayn and get a major part of the offense of the match. Gulak was beaten up by Nakamura and Cesaro and Bryan came out to help him. As Bryan returned and went on the top. Zayn catches Bryan in the air with Helluva kick to get the pin.

John Morrison defeated Kofi Kingston and Jimmy Uso in a Ladder match to retain WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Only one partner of each tag teams were competing in the match in a unique setup. All three men had an equal amount of upper hand and spots. They even managed to create unique spots. Morrison did a tightrope walk into a Spanish fly. All three men were at the top and grabbed the belt, but when Morrison was headbutted and thrown down, he took the belt with him and retained the title.

Kevin Owens defeated Seth Rollins in a No Disqualification Match. The match started as a normal singles match. Both men were more focused on hard hits than moves. As one man took advantage, the other one took over after some time. Rollins got frustrated and wanted to end the match as he hit Owens with the timekeeper’s bell.

Owens challenged Rollins to a no-DQ rules match and their contest restarted. They went on to use ringside, announce tables and other props after the restart. Owens finished the match after he hit Rollins with a splash from the top of WrestleMania sign onto the announce table. He hit the stunner in the ring after this and got the win.

Braun Strowman defeated Goldberg to become the new WWE Universal Champion. Goldberg started the match with spears. He hit 4 spears one after the other. As he tried to hit the jackhammer, Strowman turned it into power slam and hit 2 more power slams. Strowman finished the running power slam to get the win.

The Undertaker defeated AJ Styles in Boneyard Match. This was shot at some other location which was designed as a graveyard. A van entered with Undertaker’s music. It had a coffin inside . However, it was AJ Styles and Gallows and Anderson in the van, mocking Taker. Taker entered in his American Badass Biker gimmick. The presentation was more like a movie, far more cinematic than usual WWE matches.

Both men brawled throughout the match more or less, using the surrounding elements like bricks, shovels, etc. Styles started strong before Taker took over. Taker put Styles in the deep entrenched grave. However, before he could end the match. Gallows and Anderson brought some hooded men to attack Taker. As Taker took care of others, Styles hit him with a tombstone from behind and ended up putting him in the grave.

As Styles went to pour mud over him with the digger, WWE used some cinematic technique to show some supernatural abilities for the Undertaker, for him to appear behind Styles. Styles went on the rooftop. Taker chased him. He threw Gallows from the top and then hit Anderson with the piledriver. He finally threw Styles from the top with a powerbomb.

Undertaker finally took Styles near the grave and commended him to give such a tough fight. He fiended leaving the scene before turning back and kicking Styles into the grave. He followed by putting mud over Styles in the grave and revealing the Styles’ tombstone.
