WWE Extreme Rules Pre-Show

The commentary team of Jonathan Coachman, Charly Caruso, Beth Pheonix and Sam Roberts welcomes us to the show. It’s Charly Caruso’s birthday today and everyone wishes her. They start discussing the lineup one by one.

An ambulance is seen backstage. Kevin Owens walks up and Kayla Braxton interviews him. Owens is sure Shane McMahon has a problem with him being here tonight, but he works for WWE, not Shane. Owens is confident about tonight’s match with Dolph Ziggler and says if WWE is going to have Extreme Rules in the city of Philadelphia, you can believe he will be there.

Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin are seen backstage. Evans asks what Corbin thinks about her look and he says it’s a good look, and that’s strictly professional, and she looks like the next RAW Women’s Champion. Corbin goes on about how he’s going to beat Seth Rollins with a chair tonight, maybe put him through a table. Evans talks more about tonight and says they will forever be known as The Homewreckers because they will take Seth and Becky Lynch’s titles, and end their relationship.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Finn Balor to become new Intercontinental Champion

They lock up and come to a stalemate after Balor shoves Naka away and punches him. A basement dropkick coming off the ropes, before Naka counters in the corner. He puts Balor hanging on the turnbuckle and kicks him in the gut. Balor counters with an overhead kick and hits a suicide dive as Naka goes to the outside. He sends throws Naka into the barricade a few times before putting him back to the ring.

Nakamura puts Balor in an armlock but Balor puts his leg on the ropes to force the break. They tried to take control where Nakamura keeps Balor down for some time. Balor hits the Pele kick, trips Nakamura with a dropkick followed by another basement dropkick. Balor hits a few more moves before Nakamura hits a superkick.

Balor gets the advantage back and goes to the top for his finisher. Shinsuke meets him at the top and the sequence ends with him hitting a sliding German suplex when Balor was at the middle rope. He lines him up for a Kinshasa, but Balor stops him with a Stomp. Balor goes for the Coup de Grace and misses. Nakamura hits him with the Kinshasa from the back and hits one more Kinshasa to get the pin.

Drew Gulak defeated Tony Nese to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship

They charge after the bell rings. Gulak drops Nese before they went back and forth. Gulak takes Nese to the mat and they tangle. They break and get to their feet, sizing each other up as fans chant for Gulak. Nese shows off with some moves and takes Gulak down for a quick 1 count. Nese charges and clotheslines Gulak over the top rope to the floor. Nese poses and plays to the crowd but they boo him. They end up on the floor and Gulak hits a big stiff lariat from the apron for a pop.

The referee counts but Gulak brings it back in at 6 and gets a two-count. More back and forth for a few minutes after a break. Nese with a big German suplex into the turnbuckles as Gulak is checked on. Gulak is hanging from the second rope as Nese goes to the top and hits a moonsault to the floor, hitting Gulak on the way down. Nese brings it back into the ring and hits the 450 for another close pin attempt. Gulak fights back and hits a big boot.
