During their initial months, the Shield was the heel faction that use to come out and attack different wrestlers until it was revealed that Shield was being hired by Paul Heyman to take down CM Punk’s opponents. After their association ended they challenged the pair of Randy Orton and Sheamus for the WrestleMania match. Orton and Sheamus got the Big Show as the partner even the odds and make it a six men tag team match.

Only in their first WrestleMania match, the Shield was able to take advantage of a lack of chemistry between their opponents. Big Show took advantage of his big size when he ripped off Ambrose’s vest and performed many chops over him while dominating for a good portion of the match. However, Big Show could only watch when Randy Orton intervened to get the tag from Sheamus instead of Show. After a spear from Roman Reigns, Ambrose pinned Orton to win the match.

Amid the rise of Daniel Bryan, Kane the Authority figure ordered the Shield to attack commentator Jerry Lawler due to Kane having the evidence that Lawler helped Daniel Bryan in invading Raw with some fans. Shield, however, turned on Kane and attacked him to turn face after 16 months in their WWE run. Kane, teamed up with the New Age Outlaws to attack Shield on an episode of SmackDown which set up the match between the Shield against Kane and the Outlaws at WrestleMania 30.

The Shield was able to get a decisive win over their rivals in a quick match where Kane was taken out by a spear from Roman Reigns and Shield performed their Triple Powerbomb maneuver on both Outlaws after a double spear from Roman Reigns on them. Seth Rollins pinned Billy Gunn to win the match which only lasted for 2 minutes and 49 seconds.

Dean Ambrose was in pursuit of Intercontinental Championship in the early months of 2015 but was unable to beat the champion Wade Barret at Fastlane in a singles match. After it was announced that Barrett would defend his title at WrestleMania in a multi-person Ladder match, Ambrose was also inserted in the match.

As a typical ladder match would go, this match also included many spots where the ladder was put to good use by all the stars involved. Ambrose, however, failed to win the title again as he was injured after being sent into a ladder by Luke Harper. Medics came out to check on Ambrose and he left the match midway. Daniel Bryan later won the match after he headbutted Dolph Ziggler over the ladder and unhooked the title belt.

Dean Ambrose, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns were involved in the triple threat match for the no. 1 contender to challenge Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. As Lesnar had Roman Reigns in the Kimura Lock and was about to win the match, Ambrose attacked Lesnar with a steel chair and incapacitated Lesnar. Reigns pinned Ambrose to win the match after a spear. An irate Lesnar attacked Ambrose on the next day at backstage on a RAW episode. Next week, Ambrose came out in an Ambulance to challenge Brock Lesnar for the No Holds Barred Street Fight and Paul Heyman accepted the challenge on behalf of Lesnar.

With Lesnar clearly the more powerful man, Ambrose used a number of weapons to take advantage multiple times. He hit Lesnar with many moves using the steel chairs but ultimately Lesnar performed F5 on Ambrose over the steel chairs to win the match.

Dean Ambrose was involved in the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber match where he eliminated Baron Corbin after a roll-up. Corbin retaliated by attacking Ambrose during the match which led to Ambrose being eliminated from the match. A similar thing happened again at no. 1 Contender’s Battle Royal when Ambrose eliminated Corbin and Corbin again retaliated by hitting Ambrose with End of Days. Corbin later challenged Ambrose for the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania which was accepted by Ambrose when he came out to interrupt Corbin’s match against Randy Orton on SmackDown.

Ambrose started the match strongly but Corbin took control after Ambrose crashed into the steel post. After Corbin dominated for the next few minutes, both stars went back and forth in the match. Ambrose kicked out of the pin after Corbin hit Deep six but as Corbin went for the end of days, Ambrose hit the dirty deeds to win the match. This was Ambrose’s first individual victory at WrestleMania.
