NXT North American Title Match officially announced
NXT Manager William Regal has announced that Velveteen Dream will defend his NXT North American Championship against Matt Riddle at NXT Takeover: New York next month.
On 6 March episode of NXT, Matt Riddle wanted to have a closer look at the NXT North American Championship title and expressed his desire to have the belt around his waist to the champion Velveteen Dream. Dream, however, dismissed him on that day. These two faced off in the Fatal 5-Way match at this week’s episode of NXT vying for the NXT Championship match at Takeover: New York event. Matt Riddle had locked Dream into the Bro-mission and Dream almost passed out when the eventual champion Adam Cole pulled the referee before he could announce the match.
Riddle’s exploits did not go unnoticed though, as the NXT General Manager William Regal announced that he wants to see Riddle go against Dream one on one at Takeover: New York and the match will be for the North American Championship. Interestingly, Matt Riddle has been undefeated in NXT in one on one matches. So the match at Takeover would mean either Dream losing his title in his first defense or Riddle losing his undefeated streak.
